Knowing the past tense is not the same as knowing how to tell a story.
In this post, I explore how narration develops from simple sequencing into something much richer: context, perspective, audience, register, cultural understanding, analysis, and meaning-making. Drawing from my Spanish I through AP classrooms, I look at how students can learn not just to describe what happened, but to understand why it matters, how another person might tell it differently, and how language itself shapes the story.
